About ERC Amsterdam.
European Research College Amsterdam is a dedicated research centre with a focus on two main thematic areas:
- legal theory, international and commercial law, and
- political science and international relations.
We welcome ambitious, globally minded researchers who are eager to contribute to critical debates and complex challenges at the intersection of law, politics, and global governance.
ERC Amsterdam offers early-career and established researchers a high degree of academic freedom within a clearly defined thematic framework. Scholars are encouraged to pursue their own lines of inquiry while being part of an active, decentralised research network that values both individual initiative and collective exchange.
We offer selected researchers the opportunity to join ERC Amsterdam on a full-time research contract, with no teaching obligations. Our structure allows researchers to focus entirely on their academic work, supported by access to mentorship from experienced senior scholars, as well as dedicated assistance throughout onboarding and integration.
What makes ERC Amsterdam unique is our commitment to fostering a collegial, inclusive, and intellectually rich environment. We believe that world-class research emerges where people feel welcome, inspired, and respected. We actively support participation in international conferences, cross-border collaborations, and interdisciplinary dialogue.
ERC Amsterdam offers:
- A focused yet flexible research setting that supports autonomy and excellence
- Opportunities to engage with scholars across Europe through the ERC network
- Administrative support and mentorship tailored to your stage of career
- A vibrant academic home in one of Europe’s most dynamic cities
