Nicole Horáková Hirschlerová, M.A.
Nicole Horáková Hirschlerová is a member of the PRIGO University College of the European Research University and is involved in teaching Introduction to Sociological Theory and Cultural Anthropology and Methods and Techniques of Social Research. She is interested in sociology and qualitative methodology. After completing her Master's degree at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (Germany) and Freie Universität Berlin (Germany), she started her academic career at Palacký University Olomouc. She completed her doctoral studies (Ph.D.) at the University of Osnabrück (Germany) at the renowned Institute for Migration and Intercultural Studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Klaus Bade. Her dissertation dealt with the migration of members of the German minority from the USSR to the former GDR. The topic of migration is still one of her main areas of research. She is also interested in the sociology of work, especially the changes in working conditions due to the introduction of technology, home-office and migration processes. During her time at the university, she has received research grants, e.g. from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Institute for European History at the University of Mainz. Within the ERASMUS+ programme she has taught at various European and non-European universities. She is a member of two editorial boards and the Czech Sociological Society. Nicole Horáková Hirschler has also participated in several national and international projects. She publishes her articles in Czech, English and German and her contributions can be found in various databases such as Web of Science, Scopus or ERIH.
