Our research focus.
The European Research University is currently primarily an economically oriented institution, offering academic degrees predominantly in the fields of economics, economic policy, business, administration and management. Our research activity is therefore largely aligned with these disciplines. A key priority is to pursue socially relevant research with tangible impact, which is effectively integrated into our teaching. We also actively involve students in research from undergraduate level onwards.
In addition, a significant area of academic engagement at ERUNI is the field of law. A number of legal professionals contribute to our teaching and research, either as members of staff or external collaborators. Moreover, we are increasingly engaged in a broader spectrum of the social sciences and the humanities. Our research extends to educational science, sociology, psychology, ethics, religious studies, and philosophy. We regard these fields as essential to a comprehensive understanding of contemporary society, and they provide a valuable complement to our economic and legal expertise.
To support our international research agenda, ERUNI has established the European Research College (ERC) - a decentralised network of independent research hubs operating under foreign legal frameworks. The ERC fosters international collaboration, supports access to funding opportunities, and advances high-quality research across disciplines and national contexts.
We warmly welcome scholars from around the world to join our research efforts, whether in senior academic roles or through postdoctoral positions.
Publication activities.
Our publications include research papers in prestigious, highly ranked journals. We also publish undergraduate textbooks and professional monographs and are currently preparing our own series of the ERUNI Working Papers. We are also actively involved in applied research activities, the outputs of which include software, methodologies or reports, especially for public administration authorities.
Research projects.
As a research-oriented institution, ERUNI undertakes a broad spectrum of academic projects, with a primary focus on basic research. We are also actively engaged in applied and contract research, particularly where it aligns with the university’s academic profile.
Our research activity is closely intertwined with our accredited study programmes, fostering a strong link between scholarship and teaching. We place particular emphasis on the transfer of research findings into the classroom, ensuring that our students benefit from the most current academic knowledge and methodological developments. At the same time, we regard student involvement in research as an integral part of the learning process. Students are encouraged to participate in research projects from undergraduate level, allowing them to develop critical skills and engage with real-world academic inquiry from the outset of their studies.
Special tuition support.
At European Research University (ERUNI), we support talented and motivated students through a combination of scholarships, stipends, and research funding — designed to remove financial barriers and enable full focus on academic development.
University of London programmes
Students enrolled in programmes of the University of London and supported by ERUNI RTC may be considered for scholarships funded through the Foundation FOR THE FUTURE.
These scholarships may cover up to 100% of the University of London tuition fees, allowing selected students to pursue their degree entirely free of charge.
Doctoral research fellowship (PhD studies)
Doctoral fellows receive a fully funded financial package designed to support intensive research activity.
This includes:
- a monthly stipend of EUR 4,000,
- the possibility to obtain a doctoral research grant of up to EUR 80,000 for the duration of the study,
- additional funding of up to EUR 8,000 per year for conferences, summer schools, workshops, and other academic activities,
