Economic Policy.
The International Scientific Conference on Economic Policy (ISCEP) is a flagship academic event regularly organised by the European Research University, hosted annually on its institutional platform. The conference represents one of the most established scholarly gatherings in Central Europe, uniting a diverse academic community particularly in the fields of economic and social policy, as well as in law, political science, and international relations.
Rooted in a long-standing tradition, the conference builds upon the intellectual legacy of the Czech School of Economic Policy, shaped by influential figures such as Christiana Kliková and Milan Žák. It serves as a forum for critical discussion and knowledge exchange among researchers from the Czech Republic and abroad, especially within the Central European region.
Each year, the conference addresses a broad range of topical issues, including:
- Economic Policy and Sustainability
- Legal Aspects of Economic Policy
- The Role of the State in the Economy
- Growth Policy
- Labour Market and Social Policy
- Fiscal Policy and Public Finance
- Monetary Policy and Financial Markets
- European Industrial Strategy
- European Integration and International Relations
- Managerial Economics
The 2026 edition will take place from 8 to 10 September at the Troyer hotel. This prestigious gathering continues to provide a space for rigorous academic debate and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The quality of the conference is safeguarded by its international Scientific and Organising Committee. Selected contributions undergo peer review and are considered for publication in DANUBE, a journal indexed in SCOPUS, ERIH PLUS, EconLit, EBSCO, ProQuest, and other internationally recognised databases. Several volumes of the conference proceedings are indexed in the Web of Science, and the latest editions are currently under review.
Over the years, keynote speakers have included Charles Nolan (University of Glasgow, UK), Hans Wiesmeth (Technical University of Dresden, Germany), Max Gillman (University of Missouri, USA), as well as Jiří Rusnok and Aleš Michl (Governors of the Czech National Bank), Václav Klaus (former President of the Czech Republic), Tomáš Sedláček, and Jan Švejnar, among many others.
As the European Research University’s leading academic event, this conference plays a vital role in advancing economic and social policy discourse and fostering collaboration within the Central European academic community.

Junior section.
An opportunity for emerging researchers
As part of its commitment to academic development and intellectual exchange, the conference offers a dedicated Junior Section designed specifically for PhD students and early-career researchers. This section provides a supportive and collegial environment where emerging scholars can present their work at an early stage of development. Rather than traditional Q&A formats, presentations in the Junior Section are followed by constructive feedback and mentoring-style recommendations, aimed at helping young academics shape the future direction of their research. Participants are encouraged to engage with generosity, openness, and academic kindness – key values that define this unique part of the conference. The Junior Section is especially suited to those in the initial stages of their academic careers, offering them a valuable first experience in scholarly presentation and peer dialogue. If you wish to take part in this section, please indicate your interest during the registration process.
Scientific Committee.
The Scientific Committee is responsible for ensuring the academic quality and integrity of the conference. Its members oversee the selection of contributions, the peer review process, and the structure of the academic programme. Through their expertise, the committee guarantees that the conference maintains its high scholarly standards and continues to serve as a respected platform for academic dialogue.

Geoff Bird is Professor of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford and affiliated researcher at University College London. He received his PhD from UCL under the supervision of Professor Cecilia Heyes, where his research focused on the mechanisms underlying imitation. He subsequently held research positions at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at UCL, working with Professors Chris and Uta Frith on autism research using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). Professor Bird has also worked at the Centre for Economic Learning and Social Evolution and served as an advisor on science policy to the UK government before joining the Department of Psychological Sciences at Birkbeck, University of London in 2008. In 2013, he moved to the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, where he expanded his research interests to alexithymia and interoception. Since 2017, he has continued his work in experimental psychology at Oxford while dividing his time between Oxford and UCL. His research interests include autism, empathy, emotional awareness, imitation, decision making, alexithymia, and interoception, with a particular focus on the neural and cognitive mechanisms underlying social behaviour and emotional processing.
How to register and submit a paper.
Participants may register for the conference by completing a simple online form requiring only their name and contact details. Papers may be submitted in English, Czech, or Slovak, and the official conference languages are English, Czech, and Slovak. While all three languages are fully supported, authors who submit and present their work in English may benefit from broader publication and citation opportunities. In line with the requirements of international citation and indexing services, all submissions must include an English title, abstract, and keywords, regardless of the language of the main text. Only papers written in English will be considered for selection for publication in DANUBE. To be included in the official conference proceedings, submitted papers must:
- successfully pass the double-blind peer-review process, and
- be presented in person by at least one author during the conference.
Please send your abstract, including the paper title and list of authors, via email to conference@eruni.org by 30 April 2026.
The full anonymised manuscript should be uploaded to the Editorial Manager system by 31 May 2026.
The recommended paper length is 10 to 15 pages. Authors are required to use the official submission template, available in both English and Czech (see below).

The International Scientific Conference on Economic and Social Policy is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All participants in the publication process—including authors, editors, and peer reviewers—are expected to adhere to the Core Practices set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as well as to follow relevant COPE guidelines and recommendations. The conference promotes principles of integrity, transparency, and academic rigour throughout the editorial and peer-review process. Any instances of unethical behaviour—such as plagiarism, data falsification, duplicate submission, or manipulation of the review process—will be addressed in accordance with COPE’s procedures.
For further information, please refer to COPE’s resources available at publicationethics.org.
