
prof. PhDr. František Varadzin, CSc.
František Varadzin is a professor at the Faculty of Economics of the European Research University. He plays a key role in the university’s academic structure, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate education. His expertise lies in public sector economics, methodology and history of economic knowledge and international trade, and he has been actively involved in research, teaching, and mentoring students.
He holds an advanced degree in Political Economy from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague (1978) and a CSc (PhD equiv.) in Political Economy from the same institution (1986). He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Economics at VSB-Technical University of Ostrava in 1994 and later attained the rank of Professor in Economics at the same university in 2006.
He has pursued an extensive academic career, holding positions at several prestigious institutions. He served as an assistant and later as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics of VSB-Technical University of Ostrava (1978–1994) before becoming an associate professor in 1994 and being promoted to full-time professor in 2006. He later held leadership roles, including Head of the Department of Economics and Economic Integration at the ERUNI (2008–2018) and Professor at the Department of Economics and Public Administration at Silesian University, School of Business Administration in Karviná (2018–2025). Since 2025, he has been affiliated with the European Research University.
He has contributed significantly to the development of his field through research publications, with his work being recognised in prominent academic databases such as Web of Science and Scopus. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has experience supervising qualification and doctoral theses, fostering the next generation of scholars. His professional engagements also include collaborations with other higher education institutions and international academic initiatives.
